Details of Disappearance

Schroeder was last seen at his Brice ~~Prairie, Wisconsin~~Prairie home on September 22, 2012. His wife took him home from church early because he wasn't feeling well. His wife dropped him off home at 2:10 p.m. and he said he would try to get some sleep. Shortly afterward, he had apparently left on foot and without his money, wallet, cellular phone or identification.

Karla Schroeder says he had been depressed the last couple of days, due in part to the pressures of taking care of their son with special needs. A police report says he was intoxicated at the time. It also alleges he was out drinking all the night before and had run-ins with employees at Hooters and Walmart. The lead investigator in the case says it could have played a role in why he left. A dog tracked Schroeder's scent for a mile along some nearby railroad tracks, then lost the trail.
