Details of Disappearance

Polega was last seen by her husband at 12:30 p.m. on October 4, 2003, at her residence in the vicinity of the 7200 block of north Shady Lane in Porterfield, in a home directly on the Menominee River. She was reported missing by her employer over two weeks later, on October 21. Foul play is possible in Polega's case. Her husband was considered a possible suspect in her disappearance. The sheriff department conducted an extensive search of the Polega property and some surrounding areas on June 4 and 5, 2004. While Mrs. Polega was not found some guns were found in the residence and one in the trunk of Polega's car. He was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms. He has since died.
