Details of DisappearanceThe Banner-Journal, May 1963. Cannot link directly to it as it is in the library database: Malchow was down on the island beneath the Black River bridge... Malchow indicated he was thinking of "trying” the channel to see how swift the current was. Mr. Johnson is inclined to think Mr. Malchow may have drowned. There have been reports Malchow has been seen at the nearby IndianMission exit. Sheriff Julian Larkin said no one has been positive about it and the speculation is if he went there at all he would not remain there this Iength of time. Another report has been he was seen at Hank's Tavern in downtown Black River Falls. The tavern owner Mrs Lillie Haugen said Malchow has not been in her place. In all likelihood his remains could be found in the Black River. |
