After a divorce in Barron County, WI in 1980 or 1981, David moved to Frederic, WI in Polk County. It is believed that he may have moved to GA or FL in 1983.

His family believes that his disappearance may have been part of a Social Security fraud scheme and that the woman he was with, was receiving his Social Security checks. The last address that the checks were sent to was a post office box in Milledgeville, Georgia. He was with a female by the name of Jenna or Gina described as being short and heavyset with light brown hair.   
The Social Security office received a call to report that David had died, giving the date of death as September 25th, 1984. However, there has been no documentation to verify this.
