Details of Disappearance

Last seen in 1988 at Red Carpet Lanes in West Allis, Wisconsin (this is now the AMC off 100). She planned to confront her boyfriend after discovering he had been untruthful about his name and address and had been seeing someone else. Bertolas’s white car was found abandoned in the bowling alley's parking lot on April 27, but no clues were inside.

Her boyfriend admitted to calling her on the day she disappeared, begging to see her. The boyfriend denied seeing her that night, gave minimal cooperation in the investigation, and claimed ignorance of her pregnancy. Dogs traced Bertolas’s scent to Mount Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee, where her boyfriend's father worked as a caretaker. A napkin found in Bertolas’s room had the cemetery’s address written on it. Police suspect foul play, likely involving her boyfriend. Despite a 2002 investigation that included over fifty witnesses, no indictments were made. Bertolas’s family believes she is deceased.
